At Schwab, the Office of the CTO (OCTO) is responsible for defining, publishing and managing the way that Schwab delivers and run solutions for Schwab’s clients. The organization works with the thousands of technologists and the business to ensure that Schwab produces scalable, secure, high-quality product and operations. The Office of the CTO is organized into departments that are responsible for Enterprise Architecture, Application and Platform Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, the Delivery Experience, and Technology Strategy.
Reporting to the VP of Delivery Experience, the Managing Director of Change Leadership is responsible for leading pilot programs, training and change management for enterprise tools and practice improvements. This leader is responsible for running and coordinating pilots across the entire technology organization, collecting feedback and integrating improvements into proposed practice and tooling changes. This leader is also responsible for developing training materials, driving communication, education and adoption of these practice changes into Schwab’s ecosystem.
This position is expected to start as an individual leader that works with matrixed teams to succeed.
What you’ll do:
Act as the program leader for proposed practice, process and tooling changes that impact the entire enterprise.
Work with multiple technology teams engaged in various pilots, providing executive leadership and consistent guidance and accepting feedback.
Revise proposed enterprise changes in accordance with pilot feedback
Develop training materials and enterprise rollout plans
Drive and track enterprise adoption
Partner with other members and leaders in the Delivery Experience (DX) team to innovate and develop improvements to Schwab’s delivery experience
Partner with the Agile Transformation leader (a peer in the same DX team) to thoughtfully integrate successful experiments into the enterprise practice.
Partner with the Digital Transformation team (leaders in the business and in Technology) to lead and manage agile experiments.
Partner with leaders throughout Schwab Technology Services to lead positive change
Partner with Program Management Services and internal communications to coordinate change management and communication
What you have:
Minimum 10 years technology and/or business operations experience
Strong/proven experience in driving enterprise change
Strong rigor in program management
Execution and leadership experience in multiple agile practices, including XP, lean, scrum, and kanban
Proven track record of inspiring and leading technologists
Hands on experience in best-in-class, contemporary, iterative development practices, inclusive of CI/CD, DevOps and cloud deployments
Experience and passion in creating great developer/technologist experiences
Senior management presence and emotional maturity with potential to grow
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven track record of ability to communicate to multiple audiences
Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization to remove barriers to the adoption of development tooling
Experience managing large and complex technology vendor relationships
Open to industry, but required experience in large-scale, services-oriented, global business operating under compliance and regulatory requirements
Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Engineering preferred
