Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $320 billion under management in mutual funds and ETFs. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, and asset allocation strategies, as well as money markets funds. CSIM uses a consistent and disciplined approach to investing across all our products and seeks to develop innovative new products to meet the core investing needs of our clients.
This is a people manager role on the Valuation Team inside the larger CSIM Fund Administration, Custody, Treasury, Operations & Reporting group. The group’s overarching goal is to actively contribute in the success of our proprietary mutual fund business. Our group is focused on our fund business and improving the risk management, administration, fund accounting, security valuation, tax, reporting, and processing of cash and securities.
The Senior Manager is responsible for oversight of the third party fund accounting service provider, specifically the oversight of the valuation of the securities held by our funds. This individual will be part of the team that oversees the valuation of the fund holdings and ensures that the values used are in accordance with the pricing policies and procedures of the Funds and ETFs.
This role requires partnering with all functional areas within CSIM including the Pricing Committee, portfolio managers, trading, credit research and trade operations. External partners include the fund accountant, pricing vendors, and external auditors. A key responsibility of this role is the ownership of work flow enhancements, process improvements, and analytics on our pricing providers. This role also includes a significant responsibility to stay abreast of regulatory changes and relevant industry changes/trends. Based on that responsibility, this individual will build support for change and educate partners internally, make recommendations to senior management, and ultimately implement those changes on a go-forward basis
What you’ll do:
Primary responsibilities include:
Oversight of external fund accounting and valuation activities
Perform critical tasks to ensure the securities are valued in accordance with the pricing policies and procedures of the Funds and ETFs
Proactively communicate with the external fund accountant regarding valuation determinations and reviewing appropriate valuations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Research and prepare documentation and make recommendations to the CSIM Pricing Committee to use in fair valuation determinations
Manage and/or facilitate daily calls with the CSIM Pricing Committee, including guiding staff with fair value recommendations
Assist with oversight of third party pricing vendors
Manage and guide a staff of valuation manager(s)

What you have:
Bachelor's degree required - preferably in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Six to eight (6 to 8) years’ experience in administering mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds or collective funds, with expertise in fund accounting, valuation and/or operations
Experience with a multi-location team/firm is a plus
Knowledge of the calculation of NAVs and valuation of fund holdings. Knowledge of the valuation of Money Market Fund securities is a plus.
In-depth knowledge of and knowledge of valuation methodologies preferred
Strong project management, vendor management, and research skills
Excellent people management skills including strong communication skills with team members at all levels
Experience with Bloomberg and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
