Our Opportunity:

The Wealth Management Technology team (WMT) is an innovative team that believes in engineering the digital products of the future for Charles Schwab Inc. Our team has launched Schwab Intelligent Portfolios, Institutional Intelligent Portfolios and Schwab Intelligent Advisory in the last three years while also enhancing platforms built for Schwab Advisors. We are looking for a talented Senior Manager of Agile to provide leadership to the Wealth Management Technology (WMT) organization and provide direct management to a group of Scrum Masters.

What you’ll do:

The Senior Manager of Agile is a key member the WMT leadership team and will lead initiatives on adding more agility to the organization. It will report directly to the Vice President of WMT. In addition, the role will act as the WMT Agile advocate, building relationships with other organizations, Agile leaders and Agile coaches. The Senior Manager of Agile will hire and grow a group of Scrum Masters that oversee 14 Agile teams that are focused on software application development.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate of Agile and be a good coach

  • Utilize Agile practices at all aspects of the organization

  • Establish a clear Agile vision for Wealth Management Technology

  • Be an expert in identifying Scrum Master talent and hire the next great Scrum Masters at Charles Schwab

  • Be an expert in the evolving role as a Scrum Master

  • Be a good coach to Scrum Masters to help them adapt to change

  • Build a culture of open communication and active listening

  • Create effective feedback loops

  • Leverage Agile expertise though out the organization and continually bring in ideas and best practices

  • Work closely with business and technology leaders

  • Build bridges and tackle challenges across organizations

What you have:

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to software development

  • 4+ years prior experience in an Agile Coach or Scrum Master role helping teams efficiently deliver software

  • 2+ years of experience as a people manager

  • In depth understanding of Agile values, principles and the Scrum framework

  • Deep understanding of Agile with hands on experience in Scum as well as other Agile methodologies

  • Understanding of software development fundamentals and software development lifecycles

  • Experience creating tight partnerships with experts in technology and business

  • Continually grows his/her craft learning new tools and techniques

  • Able to handle conflict resolution well, facilitating discussion and alternatives of different approaches

  • Constantly striving for continued improvement and operational excellence

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a software developer

  • Experience working on teams focused on large scale enterprise applications

  • Financial industry experience

  • Experience with evaluating tooling and going through tooling transitions
