Advice Technology is a part of the Schwab Technology Services organization, supporting the Investor Services business. Our team delivers and supports Advice applications and products used by Schwab Representatives and our Clients as they plan for their financial futures. As a Senior Software Application Engineer for Advice Technology you will provide technical leadership within the engineering team and for our business partners. This position will be responsible for delivering high quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative and rapidly changing delivery environment. It requires highly motivated and focused developers curious to build new and innovative solutions for our Clients.
What you’ll do:
Design, develop and drive the next generation of Advice enterprise solutions for Schwab consultants and clients
Drive continuous integration and deployment strategies leveraging tools like Jenkins/Bamboo with a DevOps philosophy
Be a champion of new ways of collaborating with technology and business partners
Search out and evangelize new and emerging technologies including open source tools
Influence and implement improvements and efficiencies in the technical aspects of the development process
Ensure the highest quality software is developed, delivered and maintained
Be a key leader in the agile process fostering collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and transparency
Be a mentor and positive role model to junior members of the team
What you have:
5+ years demonstrated real world experience in enterprise web application development
5+ years demonstrated real world experience in Java , Kotlin (nice to have) , .NET core ( Functional and Reactive programming standards ) ,TypeScript,React and Angular frontend Stack
5+ years demonstrated real world experience in software engineering principles, such as software design patterns
5+ years demonstrated real world experience in database principles, such as SQL, Oracle, MongoDB or Hadoop
Industry-standard build tooling, including Gradle, Webpack, and Atlassian eco-system (bitbucket , Bamboo , Jira and Confluence)
Experience developing Single Page Applications using AngularJS
Cloud architecture ( 12- factor , Microservices , Event-driven architectures , BDD , Fault Tolerant methodologies )
Must have been involved with all stages of Product Development from inception, development, delivery of the application (stages such as idea generation, user interviews, planning , estimation, design, prototyping, building/execution, shipping and finally maintenance of the application)
Experience on PCF or OpenShift or AWS .
Springio and Netflix OSS (open source software
Accountability and ownership of the problems and being engaged end-to-end from problem definition to solution delivery.
Knowledge and experience in web service design and implementation
Working knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment and DevOps principles
Understanding of BDD and TDD styles
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values and procedures
Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers
Experience building designs and reviewing them with architects
Expertise in the software development lifecycle with proven examples of delivery process improvement
Curiosity to understand and leverage new tools and technologies
Strong desire to leverage technology to build products that "wow" users
Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate
Self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
BS in computer science highly desired OR Equivalent work experience
