Our Opportunity:

Retirement Plan Services (RPS) Technology at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting technology solutions that maximize business value for Schwab Retirement Plan Services (SRPS) and its clients. RPS Technology assists SRPS by clearly describing information security capabilities to clients and prospects as well as work with clients and prospect to understand emerging security requirements.

First line of defense, AOP approved position(s) that will provide dedicated cyber security technology and risk support for each Schwab line of business. This role will support Retirement Plan Services (RPS) Technology at Charles Schwab & Co. and is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting technology solutions that maximize business value for Schwab Retirement Plan Services (SRPS) and its clients.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Schwab Information Security Standards and how they are implemented at RPS;

  • Work closely with the RPS Client Development and Business Retention team to provide high quality and client friendly responses to Information Security Due Diligence Questions from clients and prospects;

  • Work closely with RPS Legal to review and redline Information Security clauses of client contracts;

  • Work with RPS and RPS Technology to drive Information Security requirements based on emerging trends in the marketplace;

  • Meet with RPS clients and prospects to present Schwab’s Information Security practices and engage in dialogue regarding how Schwab meets the needs of our clients;

  • Function as an Information Security subject matter expert in projects to define requirements and provide analysis of implementation options;

  • Conduct deep dive information security assessments with RPS Technology application teams;

  • Lead threat modeling sessions with RPS Technology application teams; and,

  • Travel may be required (around 10%).

What you have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proven track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external business partners;

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple projects and succeed in a fast-paced, heavy workload environment;

  • Attention to detail and a passion for customer service;

  • Ability to interact directly with prospects and clients to understand their requirements and explain how Schwab meets them;

  • Knowledge of internal controls, financial/banking regulations, and risk assessment/risk mitigation processes is preferred;

  • Knowledge of SIGs, SOC reports, and PCI DSS is preferred;

  • Demonstrates proficiency with the IT Security Common Body of Knowledge;

  • Knowledge of cryptography as it relates to computer and network security as well as file and email encryption;

  • Associates, Bachelor or Advanced degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science or Technology is preferred;

  • Candidates with IT Audit and controls analysis experience are preferred;

  • Candidates with professional certifications like CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCNA, or SANS are preferred; and

  • Minimum 5 years of advanced Information Technology experience in large scale environments.
