The Online Authentication team is responsible for managing client access to all of the online channels and properties (Web, Web Services, Mobile, and Software) at Schwab. These mission critical channels provide access to millions of end-clients and service providers to the information and tools they need to conduct business with Schwab. The team works with each channel on the appropriate identity management, credential, administration and security tools and services. The team works with technology and the various Security, Compliance and Risk teams and the end-channel owners. As the owners Online Authentication, the team sets the strategy and direction and is constantly looking at best practices in the industry and related industries and most importantly, emerging authentication techniques, experiences, technologies (e.g., biometric) and systems. Part of the team’s charter is also to educate channel owners and end-clients on all aspects of Security and Authentication techniques and Requirement Adherence using online and offline content, tools, webcasts, in-person meetings and presentations.
What you’ll do:
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the solution direction of Online Authentication and Security across the various client-facing Business to Business and Business to Client channels. This is a sole contributor role that will work directly with the various channel owners to determine and set requirements that meet the corporate security and identity management standards along with the unique needs of each channel and business.
Maintain a project backlog, manage a requirement backlog.
Work with vendors and the technology teams to execute the requirements.
Seek, evaluate and propose technologies and techniques that fit the needs of the various channels.
Work with technology partners and vendors to create authentication techniques that meet or exceed the firms' needs for the next 5-7 years.
Be innovative in finding new, easier ways for clients to authenticate online which are as, or more secure than what are used today.
Work with the tech team to create and prototype, test and evaluate in-house and 3rd party security products.
Evaluate authentication and security vendors which meet the needs of the firm and end-clients.
Work with channel partners and other product managers to create and implement online authentication processes and systems.
Have a passion for creating easy to understand and understand experiences.
Provide expert support in dealing with emerging threats and readily reacting to the evolving security threat landscape.
Understand the regulatory environment as it pertains to cyber-security.
Work with the Security, Privacy, Compliance and Legal teams to ensure that Schwab is complaint with security regulations and is meeting or exceeding best practices.
Be comfortable compiling metrics, creating educational and presentation material, talking and presenting to executives and large groups on subjects concerning online security as it pertains to the industry, the regulatory environment and regulatory requirements.
Some travel is required.
What you have:
Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or business. MBA or post-graduate degree.
Extensive experience with online authentication or security or other high-risk processes at a similar firm of equivalent risk profile.
Superior analytical ability with attention to detail
Innovative and creative. An outside the box thinker.
Follows the industry and is a member of Security-related organizations
Expert in creating easy to follow reports of complex data
Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Expert in dealing with ambiguity.
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive outcomes
A strong track record of performance
Experience in Agile methods and processes
Experience with the Financial Services industry
Knowledge of Schwab products, services and support systems is a plus
Expert knowledge with the suite of Microsoft Office products, specifically PowerPoint and Excel
