Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a talented web Front-End developer to join the Retirement Journey team to build customer faced interactive web applications.

This position is part of Charles Schwab Digital Service. We are responsible for delivering innovative, best-in-class solutions. We are obsessed with solving customer needs. We collaborate with user experience and design, business and technology partners across the enterprise to build software experiences our users’ are passionate about.

This role is on a team that is focused on improving the Retirement Journey for our clients. We will focus on driving client-centricity, reducing time to market & increasing efficiency. The model is insights-driven and focuses on rapid iterations to drive innovation and transformation. What you’ll do:

  • Design, implement, and unit test both frontend and backend application code.

  • Participate in the full SDLC (Agile), including meetings, iterative development, estimations, and design sessions

  • Work with product owner to understand and implement complex business functionality

  • Stay current with the newest online technologies; research new technologies and make recommendations on implementations

  • Work with other developers/UX designers to review stories and specifications and ensure that teams are meeting the objectives of the business while maintaining technical and architectural standards

What you have:

Required Skills:

  • Strong CS fundamentals in software design including algorithms, data structures.

  • Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis.

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work with UX designers and product management to flesh out detailed UI design.

  • Ability to deliver solid, secure, performant front-end code and contribute to the design of backend APIs.

  • Advanced proficiency in unit testing as well as coding in 1-2 languages (e.g. Java, .Net Core, JS).

  • Advanced proficiency in application of non-functional software qualities such as resiliency, maintainability, etc.

  • 6-8 years’ experience and demonstrate proficiency in web based development languages, specifically HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript (ES6), AngularJS/React/Polymer and .Net Core/C#/Java.

  • Responsive Design and Single Page Applications (SPA) Application performance tuning and capacity planning.

  • Familiarity with cloud and web services technologies (esp. JSON, REST, XML, MQTT, pub/sub, NoSQL, Distributed Caching etc.).

  • Understanding of Agile software development principles along with experience participating in agile projects

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
