Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Cross Enterprise Platforms, the Vice President of Client Authentication Experience Platform will work closely with leaders in Digital Services, Technology, Operations and Risk to define and deliver key digital capabilities for Client Authentication across all of Schwab’s online channels. These include all mission critical channels for retail and adviser websites, mobile apps and software products that enable Schwab clients to access their investing and Banking accounts. This leader will thrive in an environment built around innovation with a growth mindset in order to create and scale Schwab’s digital cross-enterprise capabilities for online authentication. The VP will support Schwab’s strategic goal to optimize the client experience, remove operational inefficiencies while mitigating risk and safeguarding client trust. Responsibilities will include:
Lead product management responsibilities for online authentication platform and portfolio of investments
Define client authentication customer experiences that are easy, effective and scalable
Partner closely with technology, operations and risk to design and implement end-to-end workflows that deliver consistent and efficient client facing enhancements, reduce risk and create operating efficiency for client facing and back-office teams
Create and execute product development roadmaps and plans that support Schwab as a leader in digital online authentication practices
Ensure ability for Schwab to leverage new and emerging technologies in order to improve client authentication effectiveness as well as effective governance while streamlining and enhancing Schwab’s Cross Enterprise Platform capability
Develop and maintain relationships with senior executives in Investor Services, Advisor Services and Schwab Bank as well as all remaining businesses and channels on the authentication roadmap. The Vice President must also cultivate senior level relationships within Schwab’s Technology Services and Project Management Office
Act as the Executive Sponsor for the investment portfolio related to Online Authentication initiatives
Develop and build a highly talented team to support Schwab online authentication capabilities and needs‒guaranteeing appropriate planning, building and running of client authentication capabilities
Mature Schwab’s digital culture, agility and design-thinking practices and approaches by reinforcing capabilities developed using Agile and Lean SDLC practices
A minimum of 10 years in a Product Management, Risk Management and Strategy leadership role within a diversified financial services environment; thorough experience in executive management and platform governance at a global financial institution or payments organization.
Broad product management experience with a demonstrated track record of executing large, complex process redesign and IT initiatives that enhances outcomes for both customers and shareholders.
Deep competencies involving the skillful technology and leadership needs around platforms and platform management in order to organize and deliver on a myriad of priorities.
A change agent who understands the intricacies of shifting mindsets while actively listening to varying needs in order to elevate the status of the business through prioritization and consultation.
A deep understanding of information security challenges and solutions related to identity, authentication and access management.
Displays confidence and courage in business and talent decisions, actions and communications with a demonstrated ability to take decisive action when needed, including championing ideas, position or dissent.
Leverage strategic and analytical capabilities to make sound, timely decisions based on client and field input supporting and maintaining a strong production environment including evaluating risk versus expense versus the client experience.
Extensive working knowledge of Lean/Agile methodologies surrounding product development life-cycle.
Extremely strong client relationship management and negotiation skills required with the ability to assess and effectively communicate processing capabilities and identify alternative solutions for clients and business partners.
Experience managing a significant budget and hiring plan with material enterprise-wide business impact maximizing the investment.
Able to act decisively in making solid, informed judgment calls in response to both the technological and critical regulatory environment and the day-to-day business issues.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.
Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting and developing talent for the firm; adept at providing balanced, direct and actionable feedback to employees. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths.
Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos.
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent; Advanced degree preferred.
