Our Opportunity:

In Corporate Risk Management, we provide an integrated risk management strategy that supports the delivery of predictable financial and operational performance in order to produce successful client and shareholder outcomes. We are organized around six primary functions: Credit, Market, and Investment Risk; Enterprise Risk; Information Security Risk; Model Risk, Operational Risk; and Deposits & Payments Risk. Our Deposits & Payments Risk team manages the risk of loss in deposit and payment services offered through Schwab Bank and Brokerage affiliates.

What you’ll do:

As a Payments Fraud Strategy Analyst, you will support our Deposits & Payments Risk Management team by having a hands-on role in the effective management of our debit card, wire, check, ACH, and online bill pay products to acceptable levels of risk. The Manager will work closely with business partners to gather, prepare and analyze data to identify risks and describe variances to targets and trend. This person will also be accountable for recommendations targeted at striking the balance between the risk of fraud loss and a superior client experience.

Key job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, compile and analyze data and KPI reporting to identify and communicate variances from established targets.

  • Daily monitoring and analysis of transaction data to identify and escalate emerging fraud trends.

  • Secondary review and back-testing of fraud management strategies; participation in strategy implementation.

  • Development and presentation of ad hoc analyses targeted towards remediating emerging fraud threats and assessing new product/service risk.

  • Monitoring vendor performance for adherence to established Service Level Agreements.

  • Data management activities including compiling, joining, cleansing and enriching data across multiple data sources.

What you have:

  • Ideally 2 - 5 years of experience in business and/or financial analytics.

  • Experience in retail payments and/or online payment management services a plus.

  • Basic understanding of risk-based decision strategy development; some knowledge of decision engine strategies and concepts a plus

  • Strong analytical background, with intermediate level skills in SQL and/or SAS, Teradata, or related; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Understanding of online and mobile banking channels with an emphasis on digital security: authentication, data, etc.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent and proven relationship skills.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
