Our Opportunity:

The Technology Operational Solutions (TOS) group is looking for a Senior level Systems Engineer to help own the management of our monitoring, automation, analytical, and alert response systems. This includes the implementation of new systems, managing the configuration of existing systems, developing of proactive support processes, and problem management as it is required. Overall, true ownership of systems enables TOS to be successful, ultimately resulting in an excellent customer experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, implement, and support monitoring, automation, analytical and alert response systems and solutions;

  • Own the management of systems including problem identification/resolution, performance analysis, configuration and change management, and documentation. Help provide forward-looking enhancements to enable these systems to operate more efficiently;

  • Document system design and implementation processes;

  • Own the continual improvement of processes/solutions for customer service delivery or tool management;

  • Work closely with monitoring, automation, system, and application architects to research, provide input into and implement solutions/systems/tools;

  • Train other technicians on the design and implementation of existing/new systems;

  • Help manage licensing and lifecycle of support systems;

  • Create reports and provide operational metrics on system health and performance.

What you have:

  • Expert understanding and experience with the Unix/Linux operating systems (RedHat Enterprise Linux preferred) (8+ years);

  • Excellent understanding of the Windows Server operating system (2003 to 2012) (5+ years);

  • Fluent in one or more of the following Linux scripting languages/tools: Korn, Bash, awk, sed, grep, ssh (8+ years)

  • Experience with Splunk (or other big data indexing/search products);

  • Experience in one or more of the following Windows scripting languages: Batch and/or PowerShell (5+ years);

  • Experience on a site reliability engineering (SRE) or formal software engineering team a plus;

  • Formal development experience in C++, C#, Java, or Python a plus;

  • Familiar with agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban frameworks (Atlassian Jira experience a plus);

  • Experience with enterprise level system management (thousands of systems spanning data centers/clouds) required;

  • Able to systematically analyze and break-down systems into smaller components in order to better understand functionality;

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate complex ideas and concepts;

  • Strong ability to fully own, organize, and manage multiple projects at the same time.
